Position Overview:

zerothird GmbH is seeking a highly skilled Kubernetes Infrastructure Engineer to join our innovative team in Vienna, focusing on the development and maintenance of software infrastructure for our cutting-edge Quantum Key Distribution-as-a-Service offerings. Focus of this role is in crafting and operating secure, efficient, and reliable software infrastructures to ease customer QKD adoption. Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, install and operate a fleet of Kubernetes edge clusters with our existing team of software engineers.Troubleshoot performance and reliability issues, while ensuring continuous operations.
  • Cybersecurity Enhancement: Implement Kubernetes security best practices (RBAC, Pod Security Standards, Network Policies), manage secrets, check CIS-benchmark compliance and enable runtime security monitoring.
  • Automate workflows like build, deployment or security scanning.
  • Process Improvement: Enhance development methodologies by supporting and improving software development processes, testing, and DevOps practices.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Experience: Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters, with a focus on security and reliability.
  • Kubernetes Skills: Proficiency in bare-metal Kubernetes deployments e.g. with Talos, in service meshes, security and audit tools, git-ops, secret-management tools.
  • Support infrastructure: experience in operation center infrastructure (image registries, security platforms, SOCs, …) is highly regarded.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:
    • Security-sensitive systems and cryptography
    • Fail-safe systems and certified software
    • Distributed and high availability systems
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English and/or German, both written and spoken, to ensure effective communication within a diverse team.

The minimum gross salary for this position is €3.378,48 per month (full-time basis) in accordance with the collective agreement, plus commission.. However, there is a willingness to offer a higher salary depending on experience and qualifications.
